Go Bananas

The "Go Bananas" waffle cone concept was birthed during a brain storming session with fellow iron artist, Kay Dartt, in the beginning of launching FeLion's commercial custom waffle maker business back in 2022.

The idea was to dream up what a "walking banana split" could look like, while experimenting and pushing the boundaries with what was physically possible for custom textures and designs to be made using waffle maker appliances. Hence the challenge was to "Go bananas" with our design thinking.

After several prototypes, some failed castings, and finally dialing in the process and geometry for how to make this work, the Go Bananas waffle cone maker finally made its debut in May 2024 at the 3rd annual Design Wisconsin event held at the Milwaukee Tool HQ in Milwaukee.

This waffle maker is the first FeLion-branded design that the Studios will use for special events where our favorite people are gathering (likely at iron pours!).

Note from DOTF :: While this piece was not poured at one of the DOTF events (the only requirement for consideration in our Iron Farmers Art Show), it was the main act for our Scoop n Scratch ice cream/scratch tile experience, a key feature in a fundraiser FeLion Studios generously orchestrated for the event. It had its own display off to the side of the live show to advertise the event which was a HUGE success!
