The Iron Pour takes place across a working farm that is actively being restored and reimagined. While we strive to create a welcoming and supportive environment, guests should expect a rustic setting and shared resources. Below you’ll find details about camping in our “Well of Dreams,” restrooms and bathing, and the community meals that nourish our time together.

“
The Iron Pour is built through shared effort, care for the land, and a belief that creative work can bring people together in lasting ways. Every part of this gathering, from the barn to the meals to the castings themselves, reflects that collective spirit.

There is a nice row of coniferous trees on the west side of the yard that the early Cast Iron Farmers snatch up right away. A few people have brought hammocks to hang in this prime section of trees too. But never fear, there’s acres of property to choose from to strike your stakes into if the shade is taken by the time you arrive. If you crave seclusion for your site, you can find that too. If you need access to electricity or somewhere to park your RV, please connect with us as there may be an extra camping charge for that, if such a luxury exists.

You are definitely roughing it at the Ludeking farm. The century-old farm house & its plumbing are off limits to guests. The event has grown so much since 2004 that we simply cannot make any exceptions for those wanting modern conveniences. Minimally, there are portable restrooms placed throughout the main areas of the event, each with a hand washing station for guests to use. If you need to bathe while at the Farm + enjoy minimalism, we've got a treat for you. For decades, we haven't had this amenity, but the last two events saw the creation of a portable outdoor shower. It's been a spot between two trailers with curtains + a rare open view to Milky Way. There is hot + cold running water - please bring bio-friendly soap. Not your style - in the past some have enjoyed a trip into town with their earth-friendly soaps for a dip in the Upper Iowa River or Dunnings Spring.
*photos in this section are not real to this event, so please dream into them with us.

Not only do we get to inspire each other artistically, help one another make patterns + molds, and break iron together at Down on the Farm, we also get to cook and eat together. We do our best to offer a variety of foods + meals to satisfy the diverse guests we are honored to host at the Farm. We have a breakfast, lunch + evening meal option for each day of your stay if you want to participate. We always welcome desserts or snacks to share brought by our guests or donations of foods that may fit our menu. We also share the chores of washing each others dishes + cleaning up the community spaces. If you have special dietary needs, please state this in the notes section of your registration or text/email us from the information in the footer.

The Iron Pour takes place on a family farm that is actively being restored and reimagined as a future community gathering space. Each year, we continue the work of caring for the land + rebuilding the structures that hold it—from the barn to the surrounding grounds—with the help of many hands and a shared vision. What you’ll encounter here reflects both the history of the place and the ongoing effort to make it safe, welcoming, and alive again. We’re honored to share this process with you, and to invite you into a space shaped by creativity, stewardship, and community.
